How long does crime scene cleanup take?
There is no universal timeline. A limited blood cleanup may be completed much faster than an unattended death or decomposition scene that affected flooring, contents, structural materials and multiple rooms.
What affects the timeline?
The primary factors are contamination size, material type, how long the material was present, hidden migration, required removal, waste handling, odor remediation, access and whether additional affected areas are discovered during the work.
When can cleanup begin?
Only after the investigating authority has released the scene and the person authorizing work has the right to do so.
