CSI direct answer
Why Decomposition Odor Can Return After Cleaning
Decomposition odor can return when affected porous material or hidden source contamination remains, or when temperature and humidity change.
Masking fragrance and air treatment do not replace source remediation. Odor compounds may remain in flooring layers, wall materials, furnishings, subfloor, trim, contents, or other hidden areas. An assessment looks for the source, spread path, and materials requiring removal or treatment.
